Eyelash Extensions 101

Now tapping into my inner Esthetician, I want to share some beauty tips and tricks. One thing I learned early on: To be low maintenance (beauty-wise) sometimes to have to do a few high maintenance things. Eyelash extensions, for example can reduce your time getting ready by so much that for me its worth the time and cost in the long run.

           "Good morning lashes!"
"Good morning, busy day." She said, as she scrambled out of bed.

    Seriously, that just happened.

I obviously can't teach you how to give yourself eyelash extensions as you DEFINITELY want a trained professional to apply them for you. But here are a few tips to best care for your lash extensions. Wait for it, some of the things are the same.

During the first 24-48 hours avoid:
  • Anything that would wet your eyes: Swimming, showers or saunas.
  • Eye makeup, ESPECIALLY mascara (this will break down the glue and make them fall out faster)
  • Sleeping on your face
  • Rubbing your eyes
  • Cotton rounds or Q-tips around your eyes
After 48 hours avoid (similar):
  • Repeated use of sauna or steam.
  • Mascara (this will break down the glue and make them fall out faster)
  • Eyelash curlers (not needed)
  • Sleeping on your face (if you can)
  • Rubbing your eyes
  • Cotton rounds or Q-tips around your eyes
REMEMBER: Properly caring for your extensions can prolong the life of them.

MOST IMPORTANTLY if you decide that you no longer want the extensions, have a professional remove them. Because they are attached to your individual lashes you will be pulling out your real lashes if you choose to remove them yourself.
